Pros and cons of Simple Survival Earthships app for iPhone and iPad

Simple Survival Earthships app good for

I think it was a great move by earthship biotecture to release this set of drawings for the price of an App instead of $1000. Spread the movement towards sustainable living!
Kudos to Mike Reynolds and Earthship Biotecture on making these plans virtually free. Cant wait for a Global Model version!
best small investment of my life...36 tires pounded so far. I have some experience building and understand the diagrams but learning the techniques and design ideals along the way. Heres to small pockets of freedom.
We are building this Earthship as I write this. What an amazing opportunity that Earthship Biotecture has given us! Thank you Mike Reynolds and your awesome crew for all that you have done and are doing for the world.

Some bad moments

Was excited for this, but after paying $10 for "$1000" drawings you cant zoom or view at a reasonable size, i realized all ive done is donated money to mike reynolds company, at least its going to a good place. But i am disappointed that this is a junk product. There is nothing else useful about this app, it just redirects you to preexisting blog posts and content on earthship.com. Unless youre feeling charitable, I suggest saving that $10 bucks and use earthship.com until they redesign this app so its modern and useable.
Yes it is almost perfect! I agree with the zoom issue, but I got in touch with them and they said they are working on and will be fix it next week And not just we are going to be able to zoom in and out we also going to be able to send the drawing by email and print it! Im so excited about that It is amazing that we can have a app teaching how to build a sustainable home!
It seems that theyve made the appropriate updates from the first review. If you go to "downloadable" option on each page you can then zoom, print, email, ect all from that page. Its pretty sweet! Highly recommended!
If this were available for the iPad it might make a bit of sense, but as it is, its a collection of tiny drawings, not zoomable, which are all but useless on an iPhone screen, and links to the (excellent) (and free) Earthship website. Its a great idea, done very badly. I dont begrudge them the money -- its a good cause -- but I cant use this app, and wont be keeping it.
Earthships are the future of housing. With the failings of outdated infrastructure and uncertainty of fossil fuel supplies, every house will need to be autonomous. This app gives individuals the opportunity to take charge of their comfort and security by sharing the methods and systems learned over 40+ years of R&D into sustainable, off-grid construction methods. Grab your sledgehammers! Lets start pounding!
I really like the idea of this App - to have everthing necessary for a Simple Survival Earthships in one handy place for learning and reference. Unfortunately the plans and construction drawings are way too small to see details (and I use the app on an iPad where the size is doubled). Many pages with instructions (text with or without pics) have a dark gray title bar and another bar for navigation - both cover up information I really would like to see and read. I understand that one does not want to give away material which was sold for 1000 USD for the 10 USD of an app. But then the description should say "we give you plans, but you cannot read them" ;-) I really, really hope there will be an updated version which makes the plans and drawings at least readable. Also: This app does not really contain all the text and drawings - you need an Internet connection to download them. Sitting in a remote area, wanting to build an Earthship and then realizing you need an Internet connection to see the stuff which you paid already for is not a good experience....
